Let me start out by saying, that I am saddened to be writing this story. Because it involves a friend of mine that I have known for several years, and we have even become Facebook friends. When I was going through a difficult time in my life recently, she personally reached out to me, and her actions meant more to me than I can put into words. BUT, her recent actions has caused a whirlwind of contoversy not only at her former place of employment, but within the tight knit community of Orangevale, California.

The person in this picture above is Barbara. I will leave out her last name, to give her some sense of anonymity. She, until last week use to work at Jan's Lounge in Orangevale California. A quaint little bar located right smack dap in the middle of town. It's a nice little watering hole that Ofers actually awesome old school bar food, great drinks, at the best prices within at least a ten mile radius, and most of all....a great friendly staff. BUT WAIT.....theres more! Barbara had a pretty good persona up until she was cordially asked to vacate her position as bartender at Jan's Lounge. You see, Jan's offers an array of special events throughout the week, and on the weekends they happily supply the community with an array of local live music. Throughout the week they ofer Karaoke, line dancing, and every Monday and Tuesday they offered BINGO. On Monday it was Barbara with her vast amounts of vittles that one could enjoy free of charge, as they enjoyed a nice game of bingo. On Tuesday, Missy stepped up to the plate and did her own version of bingo. Well, last week things went off the rail with a garage of social media posts that Barbara spewed upon Facebook. She was telling us all that she had gotten fired from Jan's, for what she painted as an unjust cause. Well, as her friend, I immediately jumped on the band Wagin of sympathy and support. She described the situation that she got fired because she offended someone during the game of Bingo. When her friends list inquired a bit further and asked her what the offense was, she simply stated that when the number caller called out the number O69, she retorted with her usual, "oh yeah baby, dinner for two". Now of course, I have been there on many of Monday and heard a rendition of the same soliloquy, and really thought nothing of it. I actually laughed at the notion. BUT...on that particular Monday, there was a patron who voiced their displeasure of the foul statement that Barbara had bestowed upon the bar. Well, to hear Barbara tell it, the whole situation was a normality during the Monday bingo time, that it became a staple within her session as the bartender on duty. Well, I again came to her defense, but there was a person on her feed by the name of Brandy, and she question the validity of the passion that I had in defending Barbara. Well...Brandy and I had a "elevated" series of texts between one another, nothing in anger mind you, just an elevated conversation. Being the journalist that I am, I of course reached out to the owners of the establishment, and gave them a chance to comment and tell their side of the story. Most of the time when I do this people will angrily say to me, "NO COMMENT" at which time I just tip my hat to them, thank them for their time, and write my article based on the knowledge that I gad. NOPE, not this time. The owner kindly thanked me for reaching out to them, and told me that they had some prior engagements that they had to fulfill that day, and that they would get back to me soon after. Chris, one of the owners did in fact get back to me, and told me their side of the story.

She told me that her and Barbara had been friends for about 15 years. She said that the information and complaints that she was getting was very upsetting. She received around 20 different comments form patrons that lewd comments were being said by the bingo caller and Barbara. She had mentioned to Barbara on three separate occasions that she had been losing business and customers because of the questionable and fowl atmosphere that was constantly happening within the walls of Jan's on Monday bingo. Barbara pretty much ignored the comments from Chris, and went on her marry way spewing vulgarity at every chance that she could during bingo time. Chris actually asked the bingo caller to stop the offensive behavior, and the caller complied. Here is where things get interesting. Last Monday a customer said something to Barbara about the lewd comments that she and another individual made about the number O60, and Barbara YELLED at the customer. This is a customer that is at Jan's on a continual basis, supporting the business. Barbara proceeded to have an outburst at ALL of the customers so bad, that one of them got up and called Chris to complain. Chris continued to receive complaints from customers, about eight in total. So, after careful consideration, the owner decided that business that they were losing and the cost of bingo outweighed the benefits of Monday bingo. Soon after that Barbara went onto Facebook and had a complete tirade complaining of the supposed injustice that she received from the owners of Jan's. The owner asked Barbara to stop, but she didn't, so Chris fired her as a result of Barbaras petulant attitude.

After the firing Barbara continued her assassination attempt of Jan's Lounge and told all her friends and Facebook followers, pretty much anyone who would listen to boycott Jan's Lounge. Barbara also posted some pretty nasty comments about Jan's. It seems as though Barbara just can't handle any form of criticism, so she lashed out on social media.

I am a bit perturbed with Barbara, because she painted one picture on social media, and everyone came to defense, including me. BUT, after my continued exchange with the individual that I mentioned earlier, I decided to take my personal feelings out of the equation, and put on my hat of logic, and then went into journalism mode. When I got the other side of the story, I knew that Barbara was purposefully keeping a secret on what really happened. So, I apologized to the person that I had the exchange with, and admitted that I was wrong.

Barbara played a game of FOFO, and she lost. What gets, is her complete disregard for the customers, and decided to yell at them just because they voiced their opinion. I of course said, in my little exchange, that people are actually coming to a bar to play bingo, and of course they are going to hear some colorful language. This isn't bingo at your local bingo hall, or at the Catholic Church on Thursday nights, this is at a bar! BUT....even in a bar there needs to be a sense of decorum and respect for the patrons who come in, and on that day, and days past, Barbara seemed to ignore that aspect.

The owners of Jan's Lounge are afraid that Barbaras little tirade on social media will hurt their business that they have worked so hard to build up. I told them that I would do everything within my power to make sure that doesn't happen. I am going to use my influence on all of my social media platforms, and influence as a journalist to make sure that innocent people will NOT be bullied! Barbara was completely wrong in the way that she handled this situation, and she duped us all into believing something that wasn't true!

So, I implore ALL of you to go to Jan's Lounge at any given day during the week, and show your support and let them know that tyranny will not opress the good people of Jan's Lounge. Go see Chris, Missy and Aspen. Have them make you the drink of your choice, and let then know that Glenn sent you.
